Can you pull an org chart out of Microsoft Entra ID?
Yes. Microsoft Entra ID stores a manager relationship on every user, which is the whole org chart as data. Outlook and Teams show only the slice around one person. To see or share the full tree, sync a chart tool to Entra through Microsoft Graph, or export users with their managers to a CSV and draw the chart from that.

Where does Entra ID keep the org chart?
On each user. Every account in Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) has a manager field, and the set of those fields is a tree: the org chart. Outlook and Teams read the same field when they show who reports to whom. If your managers are filled in, the chart exists already. If they are not, nothing downstream can draw it until they are.
Why does the Microsoft 365 org chart only show part of it?
Because it is a profile view, not a company view. Open a person in Outlook or Teams and the Organization tab shows the chain above them and their direct reports. You cannot step back to the whole company, and you cannot export what you see. That is fine for finding one person's manager and useless for an all-hands slide or a reorganization plan.
How do you export it to a CSV?
The Entra admin center's Download users button gives a CSV, but that file has
no manager column, so it cannot draw a chart on its own. The manager comes out
through Microsoft Graph. In Microsoft Graph PowerShell, Get-MgUser with the
manager relationship expanded returns each person with their manager, and a
one-line select writes name, title, department, and manager to a CSV.
That CSV is all a chart tool needs. The free org chart maker reads it in the browser, draws the tree, and downloads PNG, SVG, PowerPoint, Visio, or PDF. Nothing is uploaded. The manager column can hold the manager's name, email, or employee ID.
How do you keep the chart current?
Connect the chart to Entra instead of exporting from it. Sprooster uses an app
registration in your tenant with the User.Read.All application permission.
After admin consent, it reads users and their managers through Graph and
re-syncs daily with delta queries, so a change made in Entra is on the chart
the next morning. Accounts disabled in Entra drop off on the next
sync. Setup takes about 15 minutes for someone who can grant admin consent. The
Entra ID integration page covers what is read, and the
setup guide lists the exact steps.
What if managers are missing in Entra?
Then the chart has gaps, because the chart is the manager field. A person with no manager sits at the top level. The fix is upstream: an HR system that syncs to Entra writes the manager for you, and an admin can set it by hand in the Entra admin center. Sprooster shows what Graph returns and lets an admin set a manager in the chart when Entra does not have one.
What does it cost?
Flat plans by headcount, free up to 50 people. Everyone in the company is included on Pro. See pricing. Sprooster also syncs from Google Workspace and CSV.
