Org chart from a CSV file
Sprooster builds an org chart from a plain CSV file — the export every HR system can produce. A name, an email, and a manager email per row is enough to draw the whole chart. Re-uploading a fresh export is the update: new people appear, leavers drop off, moves redraw.

What columns does the CSV need?
Two are required:
- name
- email — also the stable key between uploads
The rest are optional and light up more of the product:
- manager email — draws the reporting lines
- title and department
- location and phone
- hire date and birthday — power Milestones
Sprooster guesses the mapping from your header row, and you confirm it before anything imports. Your columns don't have to be named exactly this way.
How do updates work?
Re-upload a fresh export. The file is the source of truth: everyone in it is added or updated, everyone missing from it comes off the chart. Title and department changes are detected between uploads, so milestones like role changes fire just as they would from a live directory sync.
Can uploads be automated?
Yes — schedule your HR system to drop the export on Sprooster's SFTP endpoint and each drop imports like an upload. That turns a manual CSV into an unattended nightly sync without granting any system access.
When is CSV the right choice?
- You want the chart today and IT is booked until next quarter — no permissions, no app registrations, no tickets.
- Your directory lives somewhere we don't sync yet — anything that exports CSV works.
