Org chart from Microsoft Entra ID
Sprooster builds a live org chart from Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD). You connect a read-only app registration; Sprooster reads names, titles, departments, and manager relationships from Microsoft Graph and keeps the chart current with incremental delta syncs. Setup takes about 15 minutes and nothing is ever written back.

How does the sync work?
Sprooster uses Microsoft Graph's delta query. The first sync pulls your whole directory; every run after that asks Graph only for what changed since the last one. A reorg in Entra shows up in the chart the same morning — nobody redraws anything.
Reporting lines come from the manager relationship on each user, the same field Outlook and Teams use. If your managers are right in Entra, your chart is right in Sprooster on the first sync.
What fields does Sprooster read?
- Display name, given name, and surname
- Job title and department
- Work email and user principal name
- Manager (draws the chart)
- Employee ID, office location, time zone, and phone numbers, where populated
- Hire date, for work anniversaries
- Birthday — only when the person has shared it in their profile; an empty birthday is treated as an opt-out, not a blank to chase
Profile extras like about-me, skills, and interests come along too when they exist, so person pages aren't just a name and a title.
The connection is read-only. Sprooster never writes to your tenant, and photos are display-only — no face detection, no biometric processing, ever.
What happens when someone leaves?
Disabled accounts drop off the chart on the next sync. No stale boxes for people who left last quarter — the chart only shows accounts that are enabled in Entra.
What permissions does it need?
A single app registration with read-only directory permissions, authenticating with client credentials. The Entra setup guide lists the exact Graph permissions and includes a summary you can hand to your security team.
Does Sprooster support SCIM and SSO?
Yes. Alongside the Graph sync, Sprooster exposes a SCIM 2.0 endpoint for provisioning and supports SAML single sign-on, so people sign in with the accounts they already have.
What does it cost?
Flat plans by synced headcount — free up to 25 people, and everyone in the company is included on every plan. See pricing.
Also syncs from Google Workspace, BambooHR, and CSV.
