Teams & positions

Reporting lines never tell the whole story. Teams capture how people actually work together; Positions track the seats themselves.

Teams

Teams holds the org's cross-cutting groups: working groups, committees, incident teams, regional teams, and communities of practice. They're grouped by kind, each with a lead, a description, and a roster. Everyone can see every team and who's on it.

Star a team to follow it, and followed teams show up in Your space on Home. Teams also power the Projects lens on the org chart, so a well-kept team list makes the chart more useful for everybody.

Admins: Admins create, edit, archive, and staff teams; members and leads are picked from the directory.

Positions

Positions tracks seats independently of who currently fills them, so an open req or a planned role is visible before anyone is hired. Each seat carries a staffing status through the lifecycle: proposed → approved → recruiting → offered → filled, plus states like vacant, temporary, future, frozen, and eliminated. Everyone can see every seat, open roles included.

Admins: Admins open, edit, and close positions; a filled seat links to the person in the directory.
